“Letting Mother Nature Do the Work:An Introduction to Permaculture Gardening in Haines”

Saturdays (3/10, 3/31, 4/7, 4/21, 5/12, 5/26) from 9-12.  Location:
Science room at the High School. $100 fee.  Gaia’s Garden will be
provided to each participant. Registration deadline: Wednesday March 7

limited to 20.

March 10: Focus: Orientation.  Introduction to the concepts of
permaculture. Handout Gaia's Garden; group activity. Hand out copies
of Cooperative Extension guidelines on varieties for Southeast Alaska
gardens.  Hand out working draft of “Haines Gardening Handbook (HGG)”
and begin group contributions to HGG.  Group activity with seed
catalogues so everyone can order (and share) seeds.  Assign homework
of mapping out gardening areas.
